The following are safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding except where specified.

• As a rule, avoid taking any medication in pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. •

If you receive medication from another physician, please call our office before taking medication.

AFTER the first 14 weeks of pregnancy, you may also take the following cold mediations containing antihistamines.

These should NOT be taken while breastfeeding:

Benadryl Decongestant

Coricidin

Coricidin D

Triaminic Col

Common Cold

  • Congestac
  • Dimacol
  • Robitussen-PE
  • Robitussin-DM
  • Maximum Strength Dristan
  • Tylenol Sinus
  • Tylenol Cold
  • Tylenol
  • Sudafed (regular strength)
  • Ornex
 Be sure to increase fluid intake and get rest.

Cough

  • Robitussin DM
  • Triaminic Expectorant

Increase fluids and rest.

Fever

  • Tylenol

Avoid temperatures of 102º or greater.

Sore Throat

  • Cepacol
  • Chloraseptic

Gargle with salt water three times a day.

Seasonal Allergies

  • Claritin
  • Benadryl
